✔️ How It Actually Works: IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) sends pulses of broad-spectrum light that are absorbed by the melanin pigment inside the hair follicle. The follicle heats, and across a course of sessions its ability to regrow hair is progressively reduced. This is hair reduction over repeated treatments, not one-and-done removal.

✔️ Eight Intensity Levels, Sensor-Governed: A built-in skin sensor reads your skin before treatment, and eight intensity levels let you work within what your skin tolerates. Start at the lowest setting appropriate for your skin tone and build up only as comfort allows.

✔️ Skin Rejuvenation (SR) Mode: A second mode that targets dark spots and fine lines while supporting collagen production — so the handset does more than hair alone.

Before You Buy: Skin Tone and Hair Colour Decide Your Result

This is the part most IPL listings skip, and it matters more than any feature above.

  • IPL targets melanin. It works best where there is clear contrast between dark hair and lighter surrounding skin.
  • The deepest skin tones (Fitzpatrick VI) are generally not suitable for at-home IPL. Melanin in the skin absorbs the light alongside the melanin in the follicle, raising the risk of burns, blistering and hyperpigmentation. Please do not rely on a blanket "suitable for all skin tones" claim from any brand — including ours. We are not making that claim.
  • Grey, white, very light blonde and red hair contain little or no melanin and will not respond meaningfully to IPL on any device, at any price.
  • Always patch-test a small area and wait 24 hours before a full session, and follow the skin-tone guidance in the included manual.
  • If you have a deep skin tone, a history of keloid scarring or hyperpigmentation, or you are simply unsure, speak to a dermatologist before starting.

Honest About What It Will Not Do

  • It reduces hair across a course of sessions; it is not a single permanent removal
  • It will not work on grey, white, very light blonde or red hair
  • It is not suitable for the deepest skin tones — see above
  • IPL and diode laser are not the same technology. Both work by melanin absorption, but IPL uses broad-spectrum light rather than a single coherent wavelength, which is why professional laser courses can be faster on some hair types

Safety & Care

  • Shave the treatment area first — do not wax, pluck or epilate, as IPL needs the follicle intact
  • Do not treat over tattoos, moles, or broken or irritated skin
  • Never use around the eyes or on the eyebrow area
  • Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner before and after sessions
  • Not for use during pregnancy or nursing, or over skin with an active infection

Suitable For

  • At-home body and facial hair reduction on legs, underarms, bikini line, arms, chest, back and upper lip
  • Anyone wanting to reduce the running cost of repeat salon or clinic sessions
  • Dark hair against light to medium skin tones, where IPL performs best
